What would you like to see included on this wiki? Info to make it easier for coach candidates to better understand the process required to attain their Level 1. Tell us about your experience working with horses/competing /coaching in equestrian sport: I bought my first horse in 2001, when I was fourteen. He was a 16.3HH 16 year old TB who had been out of work for 3 years. He looked like a pregnant mare!! Yet he was so kind and turned out to be the most amazing horse I could have hoped for. We did everything from Eventing and Showjumping through to Dressage and Hacking. However, I then started to specialise in Dressage. In the last seven years I have progressed through the grades, riding several different horses and I currently compete at FEI Small Tour level. I help out at Pony Club judging and coaching when not away competing and am on the committee for the ACT Dressage Association. Do you have any skills or interests in other areas that may be of benefit to equestrian coaching( for example expertise in setting up websites, coaching or training experience in other sports that may give us a fresh perspective for equestrian sport)? I have participated through to state and national level in several sports including basketball, hockey, cross-country running, swimming and athletics. I have a strong belief that horse riders are also athletes, and hence general fitness/wellbeing/good diet and exercise are just as important whether riding, running or playing on a hockey field...
